Pelham Manor Trustees Bridget Bennett (right, in photo) and Maurice Owen-Michaane (left, in photo) were nominated Tuesday by the Republican Party for reelection to the village board.
Both will also appear on the Neighborhood Party line in the village election on March 19.
The village GOP held its caucus at village hall with Pelham Manor Republican Party Chairwoman Mary Beth Mullins presiding, according to an email from GOP Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey.
The village Democratic Party will caucus this Tuesday and issue a statement on its candidates following that, said Pelham Town Democratic Chairwoman Allison Frost in an email.
Bennett, who is seeking her fourth term on the five-member board of trustees, also serves in the appointed posts of deputy mayor and police commissioner. Owen-Michaane, running for a third term, is the commissioner of the department of public works. Trustees serve two-year terms.
The Democrats have not offered candidates in an effort to crack the complete GOP control of the village board since 2021, when Republicans swept the mayoral and two trustee races. Frost may have signaled a change in strategy for the Democrats this year when she issued a press release last week outlining new ways residents can vote in village elections.
